Climate is the main factor while travelling. The impact of climate is huge while travelling as it determines your adventure and experience of that country. All tourism destinations and operators are climate-sensitive to a degree and climate is a key influence on travel arrangement and the travel experience. A change in the weather is sufficient to recreate the world and ourselves.

Nepal has four main seasons with two additional seasons. Basically in Western world there are 4 season. The Two additional seasons in Nepal are Rainy Season and Pre-winter Season. Nepali seasons are 2-months long.

Different climate and weather in different regions of Nepal

The climatic conditions of Nepal vary from one place to another in accordance with the geographical features. Nepal is divided into three regions: the Himalaya to the north, the middle hills consisting the Mahabharata range and the terai to the south. All the regions of Nepal has different weather because of the unique geographical vegetation.


The Himalaya and its foothills make up the northern border of the country and represent 16% of the total land area. This region the least inhabited region of Nepal, with less than 8% of the population living there. Most permanent settlements are at less than 4000m altitude, although there are summer settlements as high as 5000m. This region has an alpine climate.


The Hilly region is in the heart of Nepal which is the home to around 45% of the population of the country. The climate is very good and most of Nepal’s lakes and beautiful valleys are located in the middle hills. This region is rich in vegetation and cultural aspects.  It is famous for fertile valleys like Kathmandu and Pokhara, hills and rivers that passes across the high hills and valleys behaving as the life support system of the area.


The Terai region lies in the southern part of Nepal.  The climate in this region is very hot. It covers 17% of the total land area, providing excellent farming land as well as area for large industrial expansion. The climate of this region is appropriate to wild animals like the Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, wild boar, several species of deer, one-horned rhino, wild elephant and gharial and mugger crocodiles.


Thus, Nepal has diverse climate which ranges from sea-level 75m to 8,848m the Highest Peak of the World Mt. Everest. Based on our analysis, we have prepared a chart which shows the approximate temperatures at different altitudes in different months.

Conclusion

The best time for trekking in Nepal is autumn (September, October-November) and spring (March, April and May). Short treks, hiking and some Tea Houses treks can be done during winter or summer season as well. You should be prepared for sudden weather changes while trekking. So, Nepal has a very interesting and exciting bio-diversity due to its unique geographical features and altitude variation.
