The 21-days Chulu West Peak Climbing is perfect for those climbers who seek greater adventures and want to add a challenge to their trip. The journey to the summit of Chulu West (6,419m) starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. After that, you will go all the way to Besisahar via a jeep ride.
A journey begins to Chulu West Peak Climbing
It begins from Besisahar and goes through different villages of Bahundanda, Chamje, Dharapani, Pisang, and Nawal. Then, eventually, it will lead you to the base camp of Chulu West (6,419m). You reach the high camp situated above the base camp and summit the Chulu West Peak (6,419m) on a clear weather day. The Chulu West Peak summit offers beautiful panoramic views of the Himalayas of the Annapurna region from; Annapurna II (7937m) to Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Gangapurna (7,454m), and Tilicho Peak (7,134m) among others.
The feeling when you reach the top of the Chulu West peak will be memorable forever in your mind and heart. You then return to base camp and head to Manang, from where the trail leads you to the holy temple of Muktinath via the dramatic Thorung La Pass (5,416m). The trail also takes you through the Kali Gandaki Gorge and apple orchards of Marpha to reach the windy town of Jomsom. From Jomsom, you fly to Pokhara and later drive back to Kathmandu, marking the end of the journey.

Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our team representatives welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Our guide takes you around Kathmandu valley for a sightseeing tour which includes a visit to UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites like Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. Later in the evening, we will gather to discuss the trek briefly and check your equipment’s necessary for the peak climbing. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Leaving the capital city behind, we take a drive to Besisahar in a jeep which takes about 6/7 hours to reach. Relishing the scenic views of snowcapped mountains, rivers, green hills, huge rocks, and daily activities of local people, we make our way to Besisahar passing through several places like Mugling and Dumre Bazaar. Besisahar is the headquarters of Lamjung district and our home for the night.
For our first day of the trek, we head towards Bahundanda, moving along the bank of Marsayangdi River. We then cross a suspension bridge and come across a beautiful waterfall. We also walk through terraced fields and forested path relishing the amazing scenic views of mountains and green vegetation. The trekking trail then ascends steeply to Bahundanda where we can enjoy lesser known hot springs. Overnight at lodge.
Today we trek towards Chamje which takes about 6/7 hours to reach. We continue to trek through terraced fields and the valley moving along the bank of Marsayangdi River. We then cross a suspension bridge and pass through several small settlements and the winding mountain path to Syange (1,100m). The trail then goes up and down to Chamje through the forested path. Overnight at lodge.
The trek continues to Dharapani which require 6/7 hours of trekking. Crossing several bridges on our way, we ascend up to Tal village through cultivated fields. We also come across the beautiful waterfall before the trail from Tal rises up at some point and drops again to cross streams. We then cross a suspension bridge and ascend a short distance to the stone marking the entrance to Dharapani. Overnight at lodge.
Leaving Dharapani behind, we continue to trek along the left bank of Marshyangdi River and pass through a Bhote village where we get a glimpse of Bhote culture and lifestyle. Enjoying the amazing view of Lamjung Himal (6,983m) and Annapurna II (7,937m) in the background, we trek through the Manang valley past several small settlements. After 6 hours of walking, we finally arrive in Chame, which is the headquarters of Manang district. Overnight at lodge.
Today we trek towards Pisang through a forested path filled with pine and oak trees. We also pass through some Buddhist predominant villages like Telekhu and Bhratang where we can see various Chortens, prayers flags, and monasteries. We then cross a suspension bridge to reach Pisang after 5 hours of trekking. Overnight at lodge.
Today we have two route options, upper and lower route, leading us to Ngawal. We take the lower route, which is an easier route that follows the river to Ghyaru (3,670m). The trail also offers a stunning view of snowcapped mountains, including the Annapurna massif and the Chulu Himal range. We ascend through Marsayangdi valley to reach Ngawal. Overnight at lodge.
Upon waking up, we can see the beautiful views of Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Chulu West (6,419m), Chulu East (6,429m), and Pisang Peak (6,091m) from Ngawal. Today, we spend this day to acclimatize to the higher altitude. We explore the village and visit some ancient monasteries like Sher Gompa and Lophelling Monastery, and pray for a successful summit. Overnight at lodge.
Leaving Ngawal behind, today we trek towards the base camp of Chulu West. Relishing the stunning views of massive Annapurna Mountains, we ascend straight to Chulu Base Camp. The base camp offers an unlimited view of glaciers and snowy peaks, giving trekkers an amazing experience. Then we set our camp for the overnight stay in the base camp.
Today we head towards Chulu West High Camp which takes about 4-5 hours to reach. As we move higher up, the trail continues to ascend on the slopes of Chulu West. Upon reaching High Camp, we make the necessary preparations for summiting the peak. Our climbing guide will also give the necessary informative training and tips on peak climbing. We take this extra day to adjust with the thinning air. Staying an extra day in the High Camp also helps the climbers to take rest and make an easy relaxed climb to the peak. We can also spend the rest of the day exploring the surrounding area and amusing ourselves with the gorgeous views surrounding the camp. Overnight at tented camp.
Today is the summit day to Chulu West Peak (6,419m). We carefully and slowly climb up to the summit with maximum safety. The climb would be difficult, but it would be worth it once we reach the summit of Chulu West (6,419m). We are rewarded with the extraordinary views of mountains like Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Gangapurna (7,454m), Tilicho Himal (7,134m), and many more. After spending some time at the top, we return to the base camp for the overnight stay.
Leaving behind the amazing base camp, we head towards Manang. Relishing the stunning views of mountains and the overall landscape, we make our way to Manang. Since we arrive early in Manang, we will have plenty of time to explore the surrounding areas. We also get to experience the Manangi culture and their lifestyle. Overnight at lodge.
Today we head towards the village of Ledar through Yak Kharka. The trail today gently ascends all the way to Yak Kharka passing through Ghunsang. Yak Kharka offers a great view of Annapurna range. Enjoying the uphill climb through pasturelands and then ascending on a moraine trail, we arrive in Ledar.

Today we trek for about 4 hours to reach Thorung Phedi. We trek through terraced fields and meadows enjoying the amazing view in the background. We also make a short ascent on a mountain path along the right bank of Marsayangdi and follow a narrow path across an unstable scree slope to finally descend to Thorung Phedi. Overnight at lodge.
Leaving Thorung Phedi, we trek towards Muktinath. We make a steep ascend to reach the top of the Thorung-La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest passes in Nepal. Top of the pass provides us with the panoramic view of snow-covered mountain peaks, including the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. We can also see the purple hills of Mustang from the top of the Thorong-La Pass. We then descend to Muktinath enjoying the view of Dhaulagiri massif and other mountains. Overnight in hotel.
We start the day with a visit to the holy temple of Muktinath, which is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that all the sins will be washed away after taking bath in the 108 holy water taps here in Muktinath. Later, we head towards Jomsom moving alongside the gorge of Kali Gandaki River. We then continue to trek through the apple orchards, beautiful agriculture field terrace of Kagbeni. Enjoying the amazing landscape, we arrive in Jomsom, which offers splendid views of Nilgiri (7,061m) and Tilicho peak (7,134m). Overnight at lodge.
We catch an early morning flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. The 20-minute scenic flight takes us through Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, and provides the aerial view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. We check into the hotel in Pokhara and take some rest. In the daytime, we will visit some famous places of Pokhara like Davis Falls, Gupteswor Cave, Mahendra Cave, Begnas Lake, and Phewa Lake. If time allows, we will also go for boating in Phewa Lake. Overnight in hotel.
We leave early morning to drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoying the countryside view abundant in green vegetation, flowing rivers, and daily activities of local people, we arrive in Kathmandu. We transfer you back to your hotel in Kathmandu for the overnight stay.
Our airport representative will drop you at the airport before the scheduled time of your flight. We wish to see you again next time. Farewell!
