Manaslu with Tsum Valley Trek is a perfect getaway for a person who doesn’t like being around the crowd. Opened in the early ‘90s, Manaslu Circuit welcomes relatively fewer trekkers than the other trekking circuits of Nepal. Also, Tsum Valley is another region of Nepal that is not too famous among the trekkers in Nepal. Until 2008, no foreigners were allowed to enter the sacred valley of Tsum. Manaslu (8156m), Annapurna II (7937m), Ngadi Chuli (7871m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Himlung Himal (7126m), Cheo Himal (6812m), Himalchuli (7893m), Kanguru (6337m), Larkya Peak (6249m), and many other Himalayas. This Trek also features the trek through Larkya La Pass (5160m) which hosts a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. The trekkers will trek along the Budhi Gandaki River before entering the “hidden valley” of Tsum via villages of Namrung, Samagaon, Samdo, Lho, and other small beautiful villages.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m), A &D.
We pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and drop you at the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
DAY 2 Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and trek preparation - (A, B, L & D).
DAY 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Barpak (1,915m), via Gorkha, 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Driving in a jeep towards the west of Kathmandu, we reach Baluwa, Gorkha. From Baluwa, we drive for another couple of hours to reach Barpak. Barpak is the home of Gaja Ghale who is the veteran of WWII. Overnight at a lodge in Barpak.
DAY 4 Trek from Barpak to Laprak (2,100), 6/7 hrs (A, B, L & D).
On our first day of the trek, we leave Barpak and head towards Budhi Gandaki valley. We trek for few hours till we reach Gupsi Danda which lies between Barpak and Laprak. Gupsi Danda hosts the stunning panorama of Ganesh Himal (7422m), Shringi Himal (7161m), and Langtang range. Overnight at a lodge in Laprak.
DAY 5 Trek from Laprak to Khorlabesi (970m), 7/8 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Leaving Laprak, we enter Manaslu valley. We cross a couple of suspension bridges over Budhi Gandaki River and head towards Shingle. We enjoy the awe-inspiring view of the Mansiri Himal range and continue our trek to Khorlabesi where we will stay overnight at a lodge.
DAY 6 Trek from Khorlabesi to Jagat (1,340m), 6/7 hrs (A, B, L &D).
We trek uphill towards Tatopani. After we reach Tatopani, we then cross a suspension bridge to reach Dobhan. We cross a wooden bridge over Dobhan Khola which leads us to Duman. Leaving Duman, we cross another wooden bridge over Yaru Khola and reach Thado Bhanjyang. Trekking along Budhi Gandaki River, we finally reach Jagat where we will spend our night at a lodge.
DAY 7 Trek from Jagat to Philim (1,570m), 3/4 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Climbing rocky ridges and trekking along steep trails, we leave Jagat for Salleri. We then trek through dense forests of juniper, rhododendron, and pine to reach Setibas and then to Ghatta Khola. We cross a suspension bridge over Ghatta Khola and follow a rocky trail to reach Gurung village of Philim. Overnight at a homestay in Philim.
DAY 8 Trek from Philim to Chumling (2,386m), 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trekking through lush forests of rhododendron and juniper, we head towards Ekle Bhatti. We cross several dense forests and pass small villages of Lokpa, Ghumlong, and Ripchet to finally reach Chumling. An exceptional view of Shringi Himal (7161m) can be observed from Chumling. Overnight at a homestay in Chumling.
DAY 9 Trek from Chumling to Chhokangparo (3,031m), 5/6 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Chasing the exceptional view of Ganesh Himal (7422m), we cross a suspension bridge that leads us to Rainjam. We then cross a wooden bridge over Serpu Khola and enter the sacred valley of Tsum. Trekking through rocky trails, we reach Chhokangparo which hosts a stunning view of Himalchuli (7893m). Overnight at a homestay in Chhokangparo.
DAY 10 Trek from Chhokangparo to the Nile (3,361m), via Milarepa cave 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Leaving Chhokangparo, we trek uphill carefully as we may have altitude sickness on today’s trek. We head towards Lamagaon which leads us to Rachen Gompa, an ancient nunnery in Tsum Valley. We then trek along steep ridges to reach Milarepa cave. Crossing a wooden bridge over Shiar Khola, we trek through small villages of Phurbe, Pangdun, and Chule, and cross a bridge to reach the Nile. Overnight at a homestay in the Nile.
DAY 11 Trek from the Nile to Bhajyo (4,030m), 4/5 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
We leave the Nile for Bhajyo. On our way, we come across Mu Gompa, which is one of the most important monasteries in Tsum Valley. Trekking along the Tibetan borders, we enjoy the outstanding panorama of Ganesh Himal (7422m) and Himalchuli (7893m). After 5 hours of trek, we reach Bhajyo. Overnight at a homestay in Bhajyo.
DAY 12 Rest at Bhajyo - (A, B, L & D).
We take a day off from trekking and use this day to acclimatize to the high altitude. However, we can take a short hike to Ngula Dhojyang Pass (5093m) where we can relish the splendid view of the Himalayas. Overnight in Bhajyo.
DAY 13 Trek from Bhajyo to Rachen Gompa (3,240m), 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trekking through rocky trails, we trek downhill towards Shiar Khola valley. After 7 hours of trek, we reach Rachen Gompa which is a very sacred place for the people of Tsum Valley. The walls of the monastery are decorated with Buddhist-style paintings reflecting the value of Buddhism. Overnight at a homestay in Shiar Khola valley.
DAY 14 Trek from Rachen Gompa to Domje (2,460m), 5/6 hrs (A, B, L & D).
Leaving Rachen Gompa, we trek through lush Himalayan forests till we reach Chhokangparo. From Chhokangparo, we pass some monasteries at Gho and continue our trek to Yaru. After 6 hours of trek, we reach Domje. Overnight at a homestay in Domje
DAY 15 Trek from Domje for Bihi (2,130m) ,4/5 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trekking along lower Tsum Valley route, we cross a suspension bridge to reach the Valley of Manaslu-Budhi Gandaki River. We trek through dense forests of rhododendron and pine to reach Rana. We then trek for an hour to reach a small village of Bihi. Overnight at a homestay.
DAY 16 Trek from Bihi to Namrung (2,630m), 6/7 hrs (A, B, L & D).
Relishing the magnificent view of the Mansiri Himal range, we trek through few dense forests to reach the rural settlement in Namrung. We enjoy the superb panorama of Manaslu (8156m) from Namrung. Overnight at a homestay in Namrung.
DAY 17 Trek from Namrung to Lho (3,180m), 4/5 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Passing few lush forests of juniper and pine, we reach the Buddhist village of Lihi. We chase the mesmerizing view of Manaslu range and descend to Sho. From Sho, we climb a steep ridge to finally reach Lho. Overnight at a homestay in Lho.
DAY 18 Trek from Lho to Samagaon (3,520m), 5/6 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trekking alongside Budhi Gandaki River, we leave Lho and walk past shady forests to reach a small village of Shyala. We relish the stunning view of Nadi Chuli (7871m), Himalchuli (7893m), Manaslu (8156), Ganesh Himal (7422m), and glacial lakes, which are all visible from Shyala. After trekking for few hours, we reach the beautiful Tibetan village of Samagaon where we will spend overnight at a homestay.
DAY 19 Trek from Sama to Samdo (3,875m), 4/5 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
We continue our trek along Budhi Gandaki River and pass Larkya La trail. We then trek through juniper, fir, and pine forests to reach Kermo Kharka. Then, we cross a bridge over Budhi Gandaki River and walk past Chortens and monasteries to enter the village of Samdo. Overnight at a lodge in Samdo.
DAY 20 Trek from Samdo - Dharamsala/Larke Phedi (4,460m), 5/6 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Crossing a wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki River, we enter the Salka Khola valley. Chasing the beautiful Larkya Glacier, we head towards our destination. After 6 hours of trek, we reach Larkya Phedi where we will accommodate ourselves in Dharamsala, which is a stone guest house built for trekkers. Overnight in Dharamsala.
DAY 21 Trek from Dharamsala to Bimthang (3,590m), 7/8 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Passing Larkya Pass (5160m), we trek through glacial moraines and enjoy the panorama of Cheo Himal (6812m), Manaslu (8156m), Himlung Himal (7126m), Larkya Peak (6249m), and the other Himalayas. We may have a longer trek today, but it would be an easy one as we’ll be trekking downhill. After 8 hours of trek, we reach Bimthang. Overnight at a lodge in Bimthang.
DAY 22 Rest day at Bimthang - (A, B, L & D).
We take a day off from trekking today. We will take a short tour of the village and learn about the culture of Himali people in Bimthang. A widespread panorama of Manaslu range can be observed from Bimthang. Overnight in Bimthang.
DAY 23 Trek from Bimthang - Dharapani(1,963m), 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Crossing a wooden bridge over Burdin Khola, we reach Tilije. We trek through dense rhododendron, pine, and juniper forests, and cross another wooden bridge over Dudh Khola to finally reach Dharapani. Overnight at a lodge in Dharapani.
DAY 24 Trek Dharapani from Syange (1,100m), 7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trekking along Manaslu Circuit, we cross a couple of suspension bridges over Marsyangdi River to enter the village of Tal. Tal is blessed to be located at the foot of a huge waterfall. We continue our trek along Marsyangdi River to pass Chamje and Jagat, en route to Ghermu. From Ghermu, we trek along the river to pass small villages of Bulbule and Khudi to finally reach Syange. Overnight at a lodge.
DAY 25 Drive from Syange to Kathmandu via Besisahar 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
We drive in a jeep along the flow of Marsayangdi and Trishuli rivers and reach Kathmandu. As we drive to the capital, we reminiscence the memories of our successful trek. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 26 Free day in Kathmandu - (A & B).
Today, we’ll travel to two of the historical palaces of Kathmandu Valley. We take a tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square in our car. You can also try the local Newari delicacies in either of the cities—Bhaktapur and Patan. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 27 Final departure.
We bid you farewell and drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport with a hope of seeing you again.
