Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a must do the beautiful visit in Nepal through lush green vegetation, picturesque and charming villages, rich wildlife and exhilarating views of the mystical Himalayas. This package takes you to the mystical lake of Gosainkunda; you can explore the beautiful Langtang region presenting with Catholic views of Langtang range (7234m), Himalchuli (7893m), Mt. Manaslu (8156m) and Ganesh Himal range (7422m) and even the Annapurna Range on a clear day.

The 16-day long trek begins with your arrival in Kathmandu as you tour through the medieval yet majestic city, its UNESCO World Heritage Sites and explore its rich culture and cuisines. Thereafter, the journey begins with a drive to Sybrubensi, where Tamang village situated on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. The trek begins as you ascend and descend through oak and rhododendron forests to reach the Langtang village.

We reach Kyanjin Gumba passing through the largest Mani wall in Nepal and the next day we climb to Tserko Ri form where we can get the mesmerizing and enthralling view of the Langtang range ((7,200m). Next, we continue trekking in the beautiful Langtang valley; reach Gosainkunda (4380m), which is a holy place for the Hindu and the Buddhist devotees.

The lake is crowded during the festival of Janai Purnima and a dip in the holy water is said to wash away sins of a lifetime. It is also believed to have magical healing powers. During the extreme winter, known as frozen lake remains frozen for a very small period of time. But the lake area has so much more to offer in the form of other surrounding lakes. Surya Kunda, Bhairab Kunda, Ganesh Kunda, and Ama Kunda are some significant lakes around the Gosainkunda area.

What you can see during Langtang Gosainkunda Trek

We spend two days in Gosainkunda, the first day we reach the lake itself and the following day we explore surrounding lakes. One might even spot endangered species such as Red Panda and Snow Leopard. Thereafter, we retrace our trail from Gosainkunda to Sing Gompa; then descend to Dhunche all the while being accompanied by the mesmerizing view of the mystical mountains. A 5hr long drive from Dhunche takes you to Kathmandu; where you can explore the city before finally departing for your country.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m) - A, D.
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Evening dinner where you will be served with authentic Nepali cuisine.
DAY 2 Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and trek preparation - A, B, L & D.
Guided tour throughout the day to several historical and spiritual destinations in Kathmandu which includes some UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Evening dinner with the team and fellow trekkers.
DAY 3 Drive to Sybrubensi (1,503m), 7/8 hrs - A, B, L & D.
Early morning ride to Sybrubensi, the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. Ride along winding roads with frequent switchbacks offering outstanding views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal.
DAY 4 Trek from Sybrubensi to Lama Hotel Changtang (2,410m), 6 hrs - A, B, L & D.
Trek begins along the Langtang Khola as we ascend and descend through oak and rhododendron forests. Cross a bridge over the Langtang Khola and ascend on a steep trail thereafter to rendezvous at Lama Hotel.
DAY 5 Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430m), 7 hrs - A, B, L & D.
Continue ascending while enjoying the landscape with mesmerizing waterfalls. White peaks of the Langtang range become visible on reaching Ghoda Tabela. Keep ascending to the widening valley and pass through a Buddhist monastery to reach Langtang village.
DAY 6 Trek from Langtang village to Kyanjin Gumba (3,830m), 4 hrs - A, B, L & D.
Ascend to Mundu and pass by prayer wheels, Chortens, and sacred rocks with inscription carvings. Pass by the largest Mani wall in Nepal to reach Kyanjin Gumba. Explore the Buddhist shrine and surrounding areas.
DAY 7 Day trip to Tserko Ri (4,984m), back to Kyanjin Gumba (6 hrs), (A, B, L & D).
Explore Tserko Ri as we aim to acclimatize to the altitude. Pass through Yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri to view the mesmerizing sunrise. Get back to Kyanjin Gumba by late afternoon.
DAY 8 Trek Kyanjin Gumba to Lama Hotel (2,410m), 7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Retrace our steps to Lama Hotel. Downhill trekking through forests with short breaks at the Tamang villages along the way all the while enjoying the beautiful Himalayas.
DAY 9 Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,210m), 5 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Begin trekking as we climb up to Rimche. Thereafter descend to Langtang Khola and continue our trail to Bamboo ascending to Landslide Lodge. Trek to Thulo Syabru as we pass by Pahare Hotel and a waterfall.
DAY 10 Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (Chandanbari) (330m), 5 hrs (A, B, L & D).
Trek as we pass by a Chorten and a checkpoint, steadily gaining altitude and acclimatizing to the high altitude. Then, move south and pass by Garta Village and Phulung Monastery before to reach Sing Gompa.
DAY 11 Trek from Sing Gumba to Gosainkunda (3480m), 6/7 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the Himalayas including the Annapurna, Manaslu, Hiunchuli, Ganesh, and Langtang as we pass through some smaller lakes before reaching the holy lake of Gosainkunda- the lake bears significant importance to the Hindus and is a popular destination for the festival of Janai Purnima.
DAY 12 Explore higher lake (8 hrs) - (A, B, L & D).
The area has so many more lakes than Gosainkunda. Surya Kunda is a significant one and is an hour-long trek from Gosainkunda. Explore other Kunda such as Ganesh Kunda, Ama Kunda, Bhairab Kunda and many more.
DAY 13 Return to Sing Gompa (3,330m), 6/7 hrs| A, B, L & D.
Retrace our path as we go downhill all the while being accompanied by the holy lakes and the mesmerizing view of the mountains.
DAY 14 Trek from Sing Gompa to Dhunche (1,960m), 5/6 hrs - (A, B, L & D).
Trek down the hill through forests and sparse settlements and cross the suspension bridge to finally reach Dhunche. Don’t miss out the Langur (white monkeys) on your way to the bridge.
DAY 15 Drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu (5/6 hrs) - A, B, L & D.
Bumpy ride before meeting the highway as we bid goodbye to the mountain range that is so near and scenic from Dhunche.
DAY 16 Departure - B.
