Itinerary
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our airport representatives will pick you up and escort you to the hotel.
Early in the morning, we take the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla above the magnificent lush green hills towards the snow-capped mountains. We then arrive at Lukla. In Lukla, we will meet our other staff members and then start our trek towards Phakding.
The path towards Namche Bazaar takes you through forests, villages and over small suspension bridges. Soon the small settlement of Monjo (2,835m), is reached which is also the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. After 3 hours of continuous walking, Namche Bazaar is reached. Namche Bazaar is known as the tourist hub and many trekkers and climbers use this same route to go to Everest. One can roam around the beautiful surrounding of Namche and enjoy experiencing the various activities of Sherpa people.
Heading towards Tengboche from Namche we will pass through dense forests, and see the first views of Mt. Ama Dablam (6,856m), Mt. Kangtega (6,685m) and Mt. Thamserku (6,608m). Then the trail winds through Phunke Tenga (3,250m) in the Imja Khola valley along with forests of conifers and rhododendron. Tengboche, which is a small Sherpas village is also home to the largest monastery of the whole Khumbu region with the same name; Tengboche Monastery. This monastery houses incredible examples of Tibetan Buddhist iconography.
From Tengboche, we descend down the Imja River, cross it, then continue on to ascend to Pangboche Village (3,930m). The trail passes by villages like Somare and Orsho and finally arrives at Dingboche. This village is a fine example of traditional Sherpa life as it has been for centuries.
The hike from Dingboche to Lobuche will pass various Sherpa settlements like Dughla. Along the trail lies a stone pile created by locals in the memory of those who have lost their lives while climbing Mt Everest. Moving ahead the trail passes up and over Thokla Pass (4,830m), but before descending one can view Awi Peak (5,245m). Soon the trail reaches Lobuche.
Today will prove to be the most exciting day of our journey. You will go from Lobuche to Gorakshep with a stop at the famous Everest Base Camp. During the spring it is a hive of activity with a sea of brightly colored tents reaching almost up to the slopes of Mt Everest. First, we trek from Lobuche to reach Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base Camp you will move to Gorakshep and is established upon a frozen glacier, however, due to the sand on top, it looks like the barren desert.
In the early morning, we will hike to, and climb Kala Patthar. A large knoll that rises like a black cone and is striking against the white and grey backdrop. A climb to the top offers views of the first rays of sunrise kissing the summit of Mount Everest (8,848m). Mountains like Pumori (7,161m), Lingtren (6,749m), Khumbutse (6,665m), Lhotse (8,414m), Nuptse (7,861m), Cho Oyo (8,188m), and Ama Dablam (6,856m) can also be seen. Kala Patthar is the highest point of the trek, and the closest trekkers can see of Mt Everest. From Kala Patthar, you will move downwards to Pheriche, which is a small yak herding village.
From Pheriche, you will again descend to Deboche. Passing through rhododendron forest Tengboche is reached. After a long descent, you will reach Phunke Tenga. Descending even further down, Namche Bazaar is finally reached.
After Namche Bazaar we will continue to descend to Lukla. Along the way, various villages like Jorsalle, Bengkar, Chheplung, and Thalsharoa will be seen. Then you will reach Lukla. Lukla was the beginning of your alpine adventure and here is where the alpine portion of the tour ends. Lukla is a bustling town with every amenity available. Enjoy wandering among the shops and relaxing for the evening before the return flight the next morning.
An early morning flight takes us from Lukla back down to the busy capital city of Kathmandu. Upon arriving in Kathmandu you will be transferred to your hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy. The streets of Thamel are full of shops and every cuisine imaginable. Here is a great place to buy souvenirs and watch the energetic shop owners peddle to the throngs of tourists.
One of our representatives will greet you and transfer you to the airport 3 hours prior to your departure. We will bid you farewell as you fly home, or to your next destination.
