Lobuche Peak Climbing is a popular climbing spot for high altitude adventure enthusiasts all over the world. A ridge connects two summits, the eastern face at 6,119m and western at 6,145m. Therefore, it offers multiple routes for climbing.
The view of Himalayas from Lobuche peak
You can see the Lobuche peak rising like a dark pyramid over the streams of the Khumbu glacier. Hence, making it all the more irresistible. A popular practice site before tackling the Everest, Lobuche peak offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. The peaks include Cholatse (6,440m), Amadablam (6,812m), Everest (8,848m) from its summit.
The summit is reached by descending down a marked notch and ascending on steep snow to the top. This Lobuche peak climbing can be for anyone who has the set of skills for Mt. Rainer, it is strenuous, hence, we don’t recommend it for anyone without prior experience at peak climbing.
The journey towards Lobuche peak
The climb to Lobuche peak begins in Lukla from where we make our way to Namche Bazar on to Everest base camp, Gorak Shep and finally Kalapatthar taking rests and acclimatizing on the way. Walking to the peak will take us through the different landscapes that Nepal is rich in. We will begin from lush pine forests, through the jungles filled with blooming rhododendrons, through valleys and finally rocky snowy terrain.
This region has a rich Sherpa heritage that is omnipresent in the prayer flags fluttering with the wind, monasteries and small stone houses. The Sherpas who are known all over the world for their climbing skills are the natives of this region. We can see their culture and tradition in many villages that we pass.
Growing up in the thin air and high altitude, the Sherpas automatically have an advantage over the folks who come to climb the peaks in this region. The grandeur of this region is incomparable to anything else in the world. The Lobuche peak makes us feel like a minuscule creature and allows us to take in the enormity of it. It also makes you realize how tough life can be at high altitudes.
